The Coaches and Trainers of Player Development Hoops LLC. have years of high school, collegiate and professional team and individual coaching experience.
Our staff has collectively worked with over a dozen professional basketball players (both male and female) and countless college athletes. They are dedicated to working with the players to help them achieve both on court and off court goals. Focusing on learning how and why to make a certain move as well as functioning as a team.
Our staff does not stop once the clinic, training or season does. They are fully invested in their athletes to help them in their basketball career as well as to be a positive role model for them.
Mickey (Mick) Carey:
Coach Mick has 8 years of college coaching experience at the D-1 Juco level and D-2 NCAA level. A native if Westchester, NY he began his collegiate coaching career at Westchester Community College in 2007 as an assistant coach producing 1 NJCAA D-1 All American, 8 All-Region players, back to back Mid Hudson Conference Championships and 8 student athletes continued their playing careers on scholarship.
In 2010 he was promoted to associate head coach. The following season, 2011, Coach Carey moved on to NCAA D-2 Mercy College where he recruited the North Atlantic region for student athletes. Mick coordinated player development programs and drills, team travel and logistics; including meal accommodations, player room assignments and travel itinerary.
Known as a heck of a recruiter he’s also a skill developer as he has worked many basketball camps Davis Lee, Iman Shumpert, Steve Novak, and Greg Koubek to name a few.
Mick has worked camps abroad teaching ball-handling at The Hoop camp in Rabat, Morocco. Coach Mick is a graduate of Westchester CC and Mercy College.
Sarah Benischek:
Coach Benischek has 6 years of coaching experience at the College and High School level. Coach B grew up in Westchester, NY and attended Lakeland High School where she was a captain and helped to lead her team to a 27-0 NYS championship her senior season.
Over a thousand point scorer as well as over a five hundred assist recipient in high school Sarah went on to play collegiate basketball in the NE-10 at Merrimack Starter. At Merrimack Sarah had a great career as a three year starter and two year captain. Following Merrimack Sarah was an assistant Coach at Manhattanville College.
After her years at Manhattanville she came home to coach volleyball and basketball at Somers High School while working as the sports and camp director at Club Fit Briarcliff where Sarah currently remains. Working at Club Fit allows Sarah to work with basketball players from two years old all the way up to collegiate as well as professional athletes.
Sarah is a certified personal trainer which gives her the ability to train her athletes both on and off the court.
